On flights over 8 hours, premium economy often represents the best value proposition in aviation — significantly more comfortable than economy at a fraction of the business class price. For flights under 4 hours, the price premium is harder to justify.

Business class offers a lie-flat seat (on long-haul), direct aisle access, full lounge access, priority throughout, a private cabin feel and significantly more space. Premium economy is a proper recliner seat with more legroom but not flat — think of it as an upgraded economy, not a junior business class.
